Sunrise & Sunset Points and Short Walks Around Dharamkot

Between the big treks, Dharamkot rewards slow walking. The village is laced with forest paths, terraced edges and viewpoints where you can watch the light change over the Dhauladhar — no early alpine start required.

Best sunset spots

• The village's west edge — anywhere the hillside opens toward the Kangra valley. The light turns the haze gold and the valley lights flicker on below.
• Cafe rooftops — many of the best cafes in Dharamkot are built for exactly this. Grab a chai and a west-facing seat.
• Around Galu Devi — open ground above the village with a clear horizon.

Best sunrise spots

For sunrise, you want to face the peaks, not the valley — the first light hits the Dhauladhar wall. The upper edges of the village and the trail toward Galu catch it beautifully. Early-morning yoga classes are timed for exactly this glow.

Easy short walks (under an hour)

• Dharamkot to Galu Devi — a gentle forest path through pine and oak, the start of the Triund trail but lovely on its own.
• Toward Bhagsu — downhill to the waterfall and its cafes.
• Upper village loops — wander the lanes past guesthouses, prayer flags and little shrines.
